I don’t really want to start a new blog post with an apology about not blogging for a year, but I think I have to. Once again I can explain it with my general lack of interest in anything H!P, but also with circumstances in my personal life.
2020 was a difficult year for me. 2019 ended with my favourite H!P idol, Iikubo Haruna, graduating. In 2020, we’ve „lost“ Yanagawa Nanami, Miyazaki Yuuka and Wada Ayaka early on, later followed by Katsuta Rina, Nakanishi Kana, Yamaki Risa, Ozeki Mai and Country Girls as a whole.
Pretty much all of these meant a lot to me. Yuuka was my forever number two in Juice=Juice and I had a very soft spot for Nanami. While I didn’t really like her in the early days of S/mileage, Ayaka has grown up to be a great inspiration to other idols. I deeply respect her. I’ve never been to much of a fan of Rina, but I’m glad she can follow her dreams in fashion design. Kana, on the other hand, was my favourite member of ANGERME since Aikawa Maho’s graduation.
On top of that stands the fate of Country Girls. For a few days I felt really uncomfortable with the idea of the group disbanding, especially with Yamaki Risa, Ozeki Mai and Funaki Musubu graduating (Musubu in March). The last years with them on H!P’s backburner felt wasted, especially since Risa and Mai wanted to continue as idols, just only in Country Girls, no other groups.
There were happy moments too, of course. The biggest hopes for me are Morning Musume’s 15th generation and H!P’s new group, Beyooooonds. I’ve fallen for both of them.
Let’s look forward to the new year, even though there’s already sadness coming, with the graduation of Funaki Musubu and Kobushi Factory disbanding in March.
